About

As a graphic designer and artist my job is to speak directly to your target audience in a way that inspires them to take action. I believe it’s important to take the time and build a relationship with each of my clients so that every design project is tailored to meet their needs. A few companies I’ve worked with include; Manitowoc County Chamber of Commerce, Manitowoc Local 301 Union, Guys and Gals Hair Studio, Kohler Andrae State Park, Wisconsin Maritme Museum, and Four Paws Pet Care.

In addition to my role as a graphic designer I also create graphite sketches and acrylic paintings.  Having strong artistic skills and specializing in illustration has proven to be an asset in this field. I have always been serious about my art, but it wasn’t until my mid 20’s that I discovered my niche in portraits. Aside from a few classes in drawing during my high school years, I am a completely self taught artist. I grew up in a large artistic family that has influenced me greatly and I have been a “creative” my entire life. Exposure to a commercial sign shop in the family has also taught me the importance of good layout and design concepts at an early age.

After high school I worked for 11 years in an industrial setting as an inventory control technician at Jagemann Stamping Company in Manitowoc, WI. In addition to my standard inventory and quality control responsibilities, I often found myself developing spreadsheets and forms for use in my department and throughout the company. What’s more, I learned many transferable skills such as customer service and relations, time management, light secretarial skills, project management, organizational skills, and procurement procedures.

In 2010 I decided to take my creative talents and apply them towards a career in graphic and web design.  During my stretch at Lakeshore Technical College I have developed various print and web designs for college coursework and freelance clients. I’ve gained  basic Adobe Creative Suite skills, as well as Microsoft Office, on both Mac and PC platforms. Software I’ve worked with include: Quark Xpress, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Also, I have fundamental knowledge of HTML, CSS, and WordPress. In May of 2012, I  received my Associate Degree from Lakeshore Technical College in the field of Graphic and Web Design, with honors!

Shortly after graduation I took my creative talents to a local print shop for the 2013 year.  As a pre-press specialist/graphic designer at Color Craft Graphic Arts I ensured that all documents, graphics and other files needed for the execution of a project were prepared. Designing graphics for packaging, newsletters, business cards and more was also part of my responsibilities there.

Currently I am a graphic designer at Towsleys in Manitowoc, WI a company that specializes in creating promotional products. I absolutely love what I do and look forward to developing my career further.

In both educational and employment settings, I’m a dependable, hardworking individual who is always prepared, well organized, and able to manage multiple projects. If you would like to discuss any potential opportunities of working together, please contact me at sarahkay7@att.net.
